NYC DOT Summer Streets | East Harlem 2026

Bringing Art to the Streets

Participating in NYC DOT Summer Streets in East Harlem was an incredible opportunity to bring art directly into the community through GZFotografias LLC. Throughout the day, I invited children, families, and visitors to explore creativity through interactive silhouette art while sharing my original artwork, wearable art, and public art practice.

One of the most meaningful parts of the event was seeing people of all ages stop by to create, ask questions, and connect through art. Every conversation reinforced my belief that public spaces can become places of creativity, learning, and community when art is accessible to everyone.

I was especially grateful to have my mother, my biggest supporter, by my side throughout the event. Her encouragement and help made the day even more meaningful as we welcomed visitors and shared the mission of GZFotografias LLC together.

🎥 Media Spotlight

A special highlight of the day was being interviewed by FOX 5 New York, where my artwork, creative activation, and community engagement were featured during their Summer Streets coverage. I am grateful for the opportunity to share how public art can inspire creativity, strengthen communities, and encourage self-expression.

Original silhouette coloring pages by Gloria Zapata invited participants of all ages to explore creativity through color and self-expression. Designed from her signature silhouette portrait style, the activity encouraged children, families, and community members to create their own unique works of art while celebrating imagination, identity, and artistic exploration.
