Good & High Vibes: “Gloria Zapata Sculpture” Collaboration with John Ahearn
Art has a beautiful way of bringing people together and this experience was nothing short of good and high vibes! In October 2023, I had the incredible opportunity to collaborate with renowned sculptor John Ahearn (@jahearnart) and his studio assistant Kevin, on a special two-piece sculpture project inspired by me, titled “GZ Sculptures.”
A Joyful Creative Experience
The energy in the studio that day was filled with laughter, music, and creativity. Watching John bring these sculptural vision to life was truly inspiring. The process from the plaster casting to the fine detailing was fascinating to witness up close. Each sculpture reflected a unique expression of personality and emotion, capturing a piece of who I am as both a person and an artist.
I loved seeing how our worlds of art connected: their 3D sculptural craft meeting my passion for painting, portraiture, and storytelling. It was a true collaboration of mutual respect, artistic curiosity, and community spirit.

The “GZ Sculptures” is actually made up of two separate sculptures, affectionately called “The Twins.” Both pieces beautifully express dual aspects of creativity strength and softness, reflection and energy just like the balance I try to bring into my own artwork.
When the sculptures were revealed, the atmosphere was pure celebration! So many familiar faces came through, and the support and love from everyone made it an unforgettable experience.

A short video captures the incredible process of John Ahearn and his studio assistant Kevin as they create the “GZ Sculptures” from the first steps of applying plaster to the final reveal of the finished sculptures inspired by Gloria Zapata.
